The Winter Quiet- Poem- Ali Hamid Khan
I like the darkness when the lights go out
I only light the lantern and cuddle in a chair
I wrap my shawl and snuggle into the corner of the settee
The winter cold makes me sit quietly in the darkness of the room
Outside it is dark and not any one around
Silence and calm everywhere
No noise only the hoot of an owl somewhere
I love this quiet and silent ambiance
I look out the window and see some fireflies making their
rounds
Darkness envelope the area and nothing can be seen
This is the hinterland away from the maddening crowd.
